Raising Money & Looking for Items for Krista Dittmeyers Daughter & Family

It's amazing a mothers instinct and what a mother can do for her children. Krista Dittmeyer was a young 20 year old mother from Bridgeton, Maine. Last Saturday, a passerby found Krista's car abandoned with its hazard lights on, and running in the Cranmore Ski Area parking lot in Conway, NH. Inside the car, strapped in sleeping was her 14 month old daughter Aliyah, Krista was no where to be found. The search for Krista tragically ended last Wednesday night, when Authories pulled her from Duck Pond.

My heart goes out to Krista's family and daughter, and no I didnt know them personally at all. Krista was an amazing girl, and I believe that she would want to give her daughter the world. So, I know I can't give her daughter the world, but I can atleast help Kristas family to.

I have been working on a blanket for Aliyah, and also rounding up some clothes and toys. Aliyah is in 18+ months clothes.

I have a raffle going on right now at ChunkyMonkeyBumz and there are 2 prizes that are both fluff!

Heres the link to check it out....ChunkyMonkeyBumz Raffle

I would like to get Aliyah the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe for this summer.

If you have any 18+ month clothes or toys or anything you have made and you would like to donate and mail to them, please email me at theboysmamareviews at hotmail dot com and I can give you their mailing address.

If you are able to do a monetary donation I have set up a seperate Paypal just for this cause.
You may send any monetary donations to jakenmattsmom@gmail.com through paypal, Please Note that the monetary donations will be used for clothing, and toys and other items to send to the family.

Thank you for reading this!

My Creepy Interesting bug story!

So, You want to know a funny or creepy story that happened to me? Well I'm not exactly sure if it's creepy, funny, or both! So here it goes:

My dad bought his first house in Lee, New Hampshire about a year ago. Now New Hampshire, has some of the creepiest, weirdest, and down right funny looking bugs you'll ever see.

This is my dad's house

But this bug wasn't just ANY bug, it was a spider! and I HATE SPIDERS! I am the girl that screams whenever I see one, and make my husband get it out.

We went to help my dad with making his new house a home, and I was assigned the yard. Now, I didnt think much about my fear of spiders, or my just icky crawling feeling when I see a bug, and I went along with my assignment. Now, there are rose bushes in the front of the house that needed some TLC, so, I went to it. Next thing, i am screaming like a little baby who wants a bottle!

In on one of the branches was this HUGE spider, and I have never ever seen one like this before. My brothers are all "ahhh, that's cool" meanwhile, I am having a nervous breakdown because I touched this spider!

My brothers thought it would be cool to capture this spider and show it to my dad, although he wasn't back from Home Depot yet. They took a photo of him and sent it to him. Even looking at this picture creeps me out. I don't like HATE spiders.

So, May I present, the biggest, scarriest spider I have ever seen!

And, there you have it...It's cool looking in the photo, But I would NEVER EVER want to see one in person again, and still to this day, I can't even identify what type of spider this is, or if its even poisenous.

Thank DAD for giving me yard duty, I'll never take yard duty again!

Merrimack Valley Diapers {Review} + {Giveaway}

As you all know I live in Massachusetts, and we are a cloth diapering family. It may not come as a surprise to you that we live near a cloth diaper store, specifically Merrimack Valley Diapers, which is only 4 hours away from our home. Merrimack Valley Diapers is located at 71 Summer St. Haverhill, MA, and is owned and Operated by one of my most favorite ladies Noreen.

This is Noreen :)

Noreen is my go to girl for everything I need to know about cloth diapers, she is local, and she is very friendly, and has LOTS of information to give about cloth diapers. I will be visiting Noreen again in the near future so she can show me how to use flats for the Flats Challenge in May.

Noreen's Store, Merrimack Valley Diapers is a small one on one store. I havent seen her in a few months, but she knew my name and remembered me when I walked in. She was the first person I went to when I wanted to cloth diaper Matthew, and at that time, she was still doing her business out of her home, which I thought was great. She sat down with me and explained all the different types I could get, and helped me choose which ones I wanted to start with.

She has a great selection of items, cloth diapers, longies, mama pads, CD detergent, swim diapers and so much more, and it is so neat and organized. I always LOVE seeing the rainbow that diapers can make on the shelf.

Merrimack Valley Diapers is Definitly the store that you want to go with if you want a personal shopping expirence. Yes, you can go to these large online companies to buy your diapers, but I personally prefer shopping with someone where I am Sabreena, rather than"Order # 5343322".

The Giveaway:

One Lucky ChunkyMonkeyBumz Reader will win 2 Samples of Rockin Green in Mighty Mighty Marshmellow scent, and a detergent sample from Eco sprout!

Mandatory Entry: Please visit the Merrimack Valley Diapers Facebook page and Tell her that Sabreena sent you!

What a Beautiful Affordable Get Away!-The Hilton Promenade

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine.

If your looking for a summer retreat for the family, look no further than Branson, Missouri!

Branson,Missouri has great attractions, Personally, I think I would love to take my family to Silver Dollar City! What is Silver Dollar City you may ask?

Silver Dollar City is Branson's #1 attraction for over 50 years, this internationally-awarded 1880s-style theme park treats guests to an experience unlike any other. Nestled amidst the naturally beautiful Ozark Mountains, Silver Dollar City features six world-class festivals, a dozen delightful restaurants, 40 live shows daily and 60 unique shops. Known as the Home of American Craftsmanship…Where Shopping is an Adventure, you can meet over 100 craftsmen demonstrating the art of woodcarving, glass blowing, pottery, blacksmithing and so much more! Silver Dollar City features over 30 thrilling rides and attractions, including the all-new Half Dollar Holler, a $1 million play area created just for little ones!

Need a place to stay while visiting Branson? Look no further than the Hilton Promenade!

Isn't that just beautiful? Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing offers: a children's Menu, cribs, and high chairs to accommodate even the youngest of travelers, as well as many amenities for business and pleasure stays. Also check out the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel too as it is just as beautiful and convenient!

Right now, the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel & the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing are offering a great spring package deal that includes two adult tickets and two child tickets (ages 4-11) to Silver Dollar City, and a $25 Food voucher to the Level Two steakhouse. This 2 night and 3 day package starts at only $455.00 + Tax! That is incredible!

If my family was to visit Branson, Missouri, we would definitely be staying at the Hilton Promenade and taking them up on their spring package deal!  We would also visit the Theater district that is approximately 5 miles away from the Hotel, and also visit historic Downtown Branson that is only 2 blocks away, and then we would finish off the trip by going to Lake Taneycomo that is just steps away from the hotels front door.

So take your family to a vacation they will remember for the rest of their lives!

My Kids Rooms :) Jungle Animals & Construction trucks and race cars!

My sons are SOOOO much alike, but sooo different at the same time. While I was pregnant with Matthew, I painted (with fume free paint) Jacob's Room a bright blue, and then stenciled off a checkered flag racing stripe around his whole room. Yes, it was very tedious work, but well worth it. Jacob LOVES IT! Jacob also has a twin size blue race car bed that he absolutely adores to match his room. His room looks like a toys r us! LOL

Matthew's room is up next on the photo tour here :) Before Matthew was born, I fell in LOVE with the Nojo Jungle Babies Theme :) We have the WHOLE SET! Yes, even the Mobile, and the lamp and the wall hangings. I could not decide, and still cant decide where to put the wall hangings so they are sitting on his dresser, and his crib bumbers, and his mobile have been taken down because of the, well, becuase he was standing and pulling and grabbing on to both. I think I may be putting crash pads on his crib though because matthew is such a daredevil! But Jacobs god father came and painted Matthews room because daddy was working so much in the last few weeks of the pregnancy, and its a nice green :)

I loved decorating my boys rooms. Matthews toys are all in the living room, along with 1/2 of Jacobs toys, because Matthew is too little to play in his room. My boys rooms are perfect, just like they are :)

Mommy Loves You Jacob William & Matthew Joseph!

Name Change! Take a look!

So, I have decided to change the name of my blog once again...It just seems so "like" everyone else if you know what I mean? My small business is Named ChunkyMonkeyBumz so that will be the new name of our blog! However, we will still be the same blog, with everything the same still!

I am so excited to be getting bigger and attracting more of a group of mamas, and grand mothers, and dads, ect.

I always love reading your comments, and love to reply to them, but I need to figure out how to! I may be good with some things but internet is not one of them!

But, you can still call me The Boys Mama :)

Thanks for being such Loyal Followers! <3

Color Splash Sunday

This is my photo for Color Splash Sunday...This flag I was told represented the fallen soliders who have fought for this country. This flag was in a cemetary that is the home fo those fallen soliders. Please Note that the flag was picked up and put at the memorial outside the cemetarys gate after this photo. We believe that a family member left this at their loved ones grave, and with the storms it might have been taken away by the wind...

Why I am upset Sustainablebabyish from the GCDC Today...

Today we went to the Great Cloth Diaper Change in Framingham, MA at Sustainablebabyish/Sloomb. It was a great time, there were lots of cloth diapering parents and we all changed our babies right on time. It was packed and the squares we had to sit in were very small, but overall it was great to be able to be apart of setting a world record...

Now, at the end there were some raffles that included some longies, and some diapers, and a Boba Carrier. after everything was all said and done, Erin who organized the whole thing was approached by one of her friends. She asked abotu the Boba carrier that had not be raffled off yet. Erin reached into the bag and pulled out and read off a number...

Not just ANY number, but MY number...

As I started to walk over to approach her, her friend looked at her and said "Oh, it's not me" and Erin asked her if she had won anything, and Erins friend said "NO" then Erin looked at her and said "Just take it then."

I WAS APPAULED! I WAS SHOCKED! I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO SAY!

Erin gave away MY prize to her friend because her friend didnt win anything.

I went over to Erin and I said "You just pulled the numbers for the carrier?" Erin said "yeah, and She won" pointing over to her friend. then turned around and started talking to someone else and ignored me when I tried to tell her that I heard her call my raffle ticket number!

I didnt want to make a scene around 50+ people so I just left. But it is very upsetting to me that Erin is supposed to be a professional here, and was supposed to do things right, instead my prize got given to her friend because I am assuming that she felt bad that her friend didnt win...Besides the fact that it's her friend, does it make her special? There were a bunch of people there who didnt win anything!

So, Sloob, I AM VERY UPSET THAT YOU WERE UNPROFESSIONAL WITH YOUR RAFFLE TODAY! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FAIR!

Agoo Bamboo Leggings {Review} & {Giveaway} Ends 5/3

Recently I was sent a pair of Agoo Bamboo Leggings to review with Matthew. When I opened the package, I was shocked with how adorable and soft they were!

We have used baby leggings since we started cloth diapering last year, and they are such a great alternative to pants. They are also so much cuter than pants too! They make diaper changing a breeze, and even daddy can wrestle the baby and change him without the hassle of the pants.

I Love the print on these ones, and my husbands favorite color is green, so they sent us a perfect pair. It was a nice surprise. They are soft and stretchy, and just overall rated an A+ from us!

Matthew didn't give me a clear rating from us, but he didn't complain or try to take them off. I think he liked crawling around in them.

We wore them on St. Patty's day (and YES I know that it wasn't his 1st St. Patty's day, but he was only about 6 weeks old on his first one, so I used the bib that we didn't use last year to show his Irish heritage & Spirit!) I took him to my work at the Nursing Home, and not only did the ladies all go ga-ga over him, but they thought his leg warmers were so cute too!

{Buy it}
You can buy the Agoo Bamboo Leggings on Their website HERE for $12.00

Wordless Wednesday- Pennsylvania Trip!

We had a great time in Pennsylvania for our family vacation! Now it's back to working the day job for mama, but that's okay because I had a well needed rest from work. When you are a Nursing Assistant, you get something that is called "Caregiver Burnout" which is why healthcare jobs give you paid time off and vacation time after only 60 days. :)

Our PA trip was amazing, and I hope we get to go back soon!

We Matthew was born, we decided that we were going to breastfeed. However, our little bear decided that it just wouldn't be enough for him, and we needed to use formula too. Bright beginnings even offers an Organic Formula!  That means:

  • No pesticides
  • No added growth hormones

Pennsylvania Trip! Eckley & Fire Station Photos

So, We have been in Pennsylvania since Sunday night. So far it has been pretty good. This is the first trip we have taken since Matthew has been born in January 2010, that is more than 1 hour from home. We have met some interesting people, and cool people, and even funny people.

The reason for this trip was to see my brothers and my 2nd mother, and so far we have had a flawless trip. We are dreading the ride home however considering its almost 7 hours one way, but we made it out here so we can make it back.

I can't wait to share most of the photos with you, we went to Eckley, and we also went to the Brainard Church and the One Room School house, the photos are amazing, especially with my Sony NEX-3. I want to get some more lenses for the next time we come out :) That would be great to get the fish-eye lens.

For Now, here are a few photos from our trip thus far...
