How Do You Say That? Dialect VLOG Hop #6

This is actually my first one, so dont let the title fool you. This is just the number MamaDweeb is on :)

How it works:
You read the list of words and answer the list of questions on a vlog. Then, you upload the video to your blog and link up here so we can all go and see how we say things the same or different! It is amazing how many different ways there are to say something and really fun to hear the different accents (or lack of accents) from different places.

I’d love to hear from England, Canada and other countries! Let’s get the Dialect hop global!

** I copied the rules, and the questions/words directly from MamaDweeb**

The Words:
Library, etcetera, mischievous, ticklish, triathlon, prerogative, candidate, balsamic, grocery, Niche
The Questions:

1. What condiments do you like on your cold cut sandwich?

2. What do you call the small drawer in your dashboard where you keep your insurance information?

3. What is another way people around you say “go to the bathroom”

4. What do you call the thing you write with that is not a pencil?
5. What is another way to say, “take a bath?” (I didn’t know this, but take a tub?)

6. What is another way to say that someone is running around utterly confused? (Like a……)

7.What is another way of saying something creeps you out?
8. Is it Jerry Rigging or Jimmy Rigging?

Guest Post From Adventures in Da(d) 'Hood: No Respect

Father’s Day is fast approaching and I realized this year that, as dads, we get no respect. It’s not that moms don’t deserve everything they get for Mother’s Day, but, I think, especially in this day and age, that dads deserve more. And my wife agrees. In fact, this exact topic was Mama Bird’s idea. Dads these days are more involved than ever before. I went to every single appointment my wife had while pregnant, even going so far as to take days off work or leave early. I was with her every step of the way. Sure, 30 years ago some dads did the same thing, but not in the numbers they are today. Dads were volunteer coaches back then, too, but today’s dad coach’s sports he never played and knows very little about because his kids want to play. Today’s dad goes to every sporting event, school play, musical, etc. that he can. Today’s dad stays home while mom works. Today’s dad cooks and cleans, shops for groceries, and drops the kids off at school. Today’s dad is Mr. Mom.
In other words, dad deserves an extra special day, too. We don’t want a tie every year for Father’s Day. Nor do we want slippers, a power tool, a ladder, a lawnmower, golf balls, etc. We want our day. We want a day to sit back, beer in hand, and relax, while at the same time enjoying our family. We want to be pampered. We want to be waited on hand and foot. Do we want golf? Sure, when we’re older and our kids can come along and actually treat us to a round. But, frankly, it’s not worth it to me right now because, well, have you ever driven by a golf course on Father’s Day? I’ll wait a week or two to go golfing, thank you. Moms get a day to themselves, why can’t we? Of course we love our families, but we don’t get any time to relax. My wife always says to me, “You get to go to work and have fun with the people you work with.” Sure, that may be the case, but I also happen to lift heavy things and walk 8-10 miles each day at my job. So I DO deserve a day to relax. I don’t particularly like going to work all day and coming home only to have to leave again to run errands, but I do it. I’m not a big fan of moving furniture around after a long day of moving things around at work, but, again, I do it. Okay, so I do more walking than lifting these days, but that doesn’t change things. I’m really not a big fan of going for walks, either, but I think you can imagine why. I still do all of these things, and I DO enjoy them because it involves spending time with the people who mean the most to me. I’m just saying I need a day to sit back and relax. No yard work, no garage cleaning, no worries, just me.
Father’s Day, in my opinion, is a little flawed. Where they went wrong was to schedule it for a Sunday in June. I think we should get a weekend in September or October. Why, you may ask? I can answer that question with eight simple letters: F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L. By that time of the year both the NCAA and NFL seasons are in full swing. This benefits both moms and dads. Retail stores could capitalize on this by having huge sales for women while the men are home spending the day watching football. I know, at least in my case, it’s a struggle to be able to sit down and watch a game on any given weekend. And I only really care about Saturday. I could watch college football all day long, no matter who is playing. For some reason I’m just not a big NFL fan. I have my team, but, other than that, I don’t watch on Sundays. But it seems like every time I get settled in or want to watch a really big game, Mama Bird starts handing out chores. I don’t know what it is about football season that she doesn’t like, but I’m only asking for 12 Saturdays and the occasional Sunday for the entire year, plus Father’s Day. Is that so much to ask? This is why it should all be rolled into one.

Anyway, back to the subject. It seems like every year Father’s Day gets pushed to the back burner. Today’s dad is under appreciated and unrecognized for what he does. I shouldn’t say unrecognized since we do have our day. It’s just that it seems to me that every year what we do for moms gets bigger and better, whereas dads keep getting the same boring gifts. I’ve been lucky; my two Father’s Day gifts have been pretty good. Year one I got a new grill, much needed since the handle on my old one was a 2x4 screwed on through the holes of the original handle. Year two was a Wii Fit, which doesn’t get used as much as we had hoped, but it’s still pretty cool and fun to use when we do. Year three was supposed to be a trip to the zoo for the Brew at the Zoo on Memorial Day weekend, but I’ve now been scheduled to work, so I’m curious as to what surprise Mama Bird and Little E will have in store for me. I love my family and how creative my wife is when it comes to these things, so I’m pretty excited to see what she comes up with. Father’s Day is a special day for us dads, and, believe me, we love our families VERY much. So make sure you take care of the dad in your family. Give him a day like mom gets; in other words, give him whatever he wants, just for a day. And, to all you dads out there, Happy Father’s Day!

Colorsplash Sunday {Late} with Artistically Amy

So, This may be my last week participating the the Colorsplash, I havent decided yet. what brought on this decision is that, I do NOT own Photoshop. The way these photos are judged are by the technique used, not by the actual photo or the colorsplash technique, and by using online editors I dont have that many options. I will decide by next week if I will continue to participate. It really has NO fun in it after you realize that you are beat out every week without a chance of getting in the top 3.
But here is my photo this week. I have colorsplashed the eyes for a full intense effect.

I just had to share my SAVINGS tonight!!! 97% savings!!

I went to my local Shaws tonight, and got 7 items for $0.94 cents! Yes you read it correctly! Under $1.00!

Shaws is local to New England, I'm not sure about anywhere else...but Shaws doubles coupons up to 99 cents. So 50 cents off becomes a dollar off, and so on...

I got 6 20oz bottles of Sierra Mist and 1 cup of Yoplait yogurt

(this is our cellar overflow fridge)

Each 20oz bottle was $1.49
The Yoplait yogurt was $0.69

I used (6) $0.50 cents off 1 coupons which each went to $1.00 off 1 :-)

Then my coupon for the Yoplait yogurt was for a FREE cup from previous Facebook promotion.

Then when you cash a check at Shaw's which is where I cash my paychecks every week and they give you a coupon for $2.00 off your next purchase, so I used that too!

Then that's what made my total less than $1.00!! Yay! See my receipt pictures below! This was an excellent checkout!

Total savings: $6.69!

I'll be sharing more short money saving shopping trips in the near future!!

Thanks for reading! Feel free to post a link in the comments to a post about your shopping savings!!

Two Completed orders Shipping 5/12 :)

So, my personal deadline had been passed as soon as Monday at 5pm hit...UGH, then Tuesday came and went, and still had yet to be able to finish. Today I had the day off from the regular day job, so I decided I needed to Buckle down and just get them done.

So with success today, I have finished Michelle B.'s order & Jahnava A.'s order.

Michelle B.'s Order was for her friend who has a newborn baby girl and her order consisted of:

2 Burp & Bib Sets
6 Bibs

Here is the Photo's of her order :)

Then the 2nd order completed is Jahnava A.'s Order, Which consisted of 2 Bibs, Tag Blankie, and 1 Fabric Flower...

Yay! These will be shipping March 12th, 2011 (Tomorrow) and hopefully will reach their destination by Saturday! (If not Saturday, then Monday.)

These Orders were placed on Friday May 6th, and Saturday May 7th, so my turn around time was not that great this time around, but Mother's day was a special work free day for me, and I worked 35 hours at the day job since last friday. So, I had hoped to have them done for Monday, but Thursday isn't that bad either :)

Thanks for looking :)

Next Orders Up:

Sara T. 4 Bibs & Hearts Pettiskirt

Joanna M. 24 Napkins & 2 ouchie Bags

Hopefully more to add to the list soon! :)

Pink Princess {Review} & {Giveaway} Ends 5/25

I recently had the great pleasure to recieve an item to review from Pink Princess. Pink Princess is an online superstore of childrens formal clothing. Pink Princess has everything from first communion dresses, to flower girls dresses, to christening gowns, to boys formal wear, and much much more! The best part about it is that it's all at an affordable price!

If I had a girl, I would definitly buy some of their Tutus & Pettiskirts! Their site mainly focuses on items for girls, but they do have also a cute selection for boys too.

The workmanship of this outfit is amazing, right down to every little detail. The ordering process from Pink Princess is flawless, and they have really quick shipping! The UPS man showed up at our door less than a week after ordering! That is amazingly fast!

This is what we ordered:

We recieved the Red Plaid Vest w/ Black Pants in size 2T. We got it in a 2T because Matthew may only be 15 months old, but he is the size of a 2 year old. The shirt and vest fit perfectly, and the pants fit around his waist perfectly too, and the length was a little bit long, but we just folded the bottoms of the pants. He looks like such a little man in this outfit, and so grown up! This outfit is sooo adorable!

This outfit is for our 5 generations photo that will be happening Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day weekend we will be celebrating my Great Grandmothers 94th Birthday! This is the perfect outfit for him. He is so cute in this! Even the outfit without the vest is perfect too, it reminds me of a business man!

Towards the end of the "photoshoot" ( I guess you could call it that! LOL, I am camera happy LOL) he started to get cranky because it was past naptime, and although I do have a bunch of photos on here already, there is just one more. So, Now presenting... Temper tantrum boy! (This photo was too cute not to include!)

Overall, I had a great expirence with Pink Princess. Their selection is mostly for girls (as you can tell by their name) but they also have the most adorable items for boys. They even have tux's for them! You can find most everything you need all in one place by shopping with Pink Princess.

Now, for the part you've all been waiting for!

{The Giveaway}

One lucky reader will win a $15.00 Gift Card to Pink Princess!

Please visit Pink Princess and come back here and comment with the name & the URL of your favorite item they sell!!

Unfair Giveaway on Facebook BEWARE!

I entered a giveaway over at the Facebook Page Eliza Ann Collection  tonight/yesterday whatever you want to call it, it's 1am EST...

She posted the link, and I did as follows, it said "tell me what you did for mothers day for a chance to win. So I did. Then a few hours went by and I noticed I was the only one who commented at it was 10:00pm, and the post said the winner would be drawn at 9am EST. So, I commented asking if I had won since I was the only one who entered...

Upon further investigation, I saw that not only had she reposted the link, she didnt even include my entry that was on her original post!

I thought that most businesses played fair on facebook, and didn't do this. I didnt get a chance to win because she apparently felt that there was not enough entries and reposted it. That would have been all well and fine if she had included my entry, and she didn't! I'm not a sore sport, or a sore loser, but when I enter something, I expect to actually be entered, and not just blown off.

Here is my screen shot of my entry and the original post, and then of the post she posted after to get more entries. That's not fair to me since she couldnt even be bothered to tell me that she had posted a new link, and its not fair to my readers of my facebook who could have had the opportunity to win the item from me had I won it, and she didnt even care to enter me although I clearly entered!

her comments above mine saying to enter on the picture above which I did, and she deleted! I even retyped word for word what I had typed on the post on the wall!!!

my comments, 1 entering, and 1 asking if i had won since I was the only entry...
This is the new one she didnt enter me into even if businesses do this, they should still include the entries together, not just "forget" about them...

I kinda went a little camera happy today and got 72 great photos (out of 100, which isn't bad) my typical day I usually take about 50 or so :)

Here's some photos from our day :)

Jacob Age 4 1/2

I Love my boys so much. It was a great Mothers Day today!
